J.M. Bernhard, III
Associate
Tres Bernhard is an attorney in Baton Rouge, Louisiana who focuses his practice on public/private finance.  Specifically, Mr. Bernhard represents corporations and individuals in structuring alternative finance products blending state and federal incentive programs with traditional finance products. He has represented brokers, producers and grass-roots interest groups in relation to many economic development incentive programs.  In this role, he has often testified before the Louisiana legislature regarding the program.  He has placed tax credits with a diverse cross-section of the marketplace, including Fortune 500 corporations, and major accounting firms.
 
Bernhard also represents clients as a lobbyist before the Louisiana legislature.  His clients range from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies.  Bernhard also has an extensive background in political consulting for elected officials ranging from statewide to local offices.  He has been a political consultant for dozens of campaigns across the state. Additionally, Mr. Bernhard serves as ethics and campaign finance counsel to the Louisiana Democratic Party. 
 
Prior to joining Crawford Lewis, Mr. Bernhard was a partner with the firm Bernhard and Associates, LLC, and associated with the firm of Kean, Miller, Hawthorne, D'Armond, McCowan and Jarman, LLP, a major regional law firm, and worked on the staff of Senator John Breaux (D-La.).  Additionally, Mr. Bernhard is a principal of Entertainment Capital Partners, a finance company specializing in tax credit finance for the entertainment industry.  He has a J.D. from the South Texas College of Law and BA from the University of Mississippi and is the author of the article "Nuclear Waste Disposal: the Yucca Solution, If not there, where?".
